Judge Brandt solid pick
I have resided in Spokane County for 63 years and have been an attorney in Washington since 1975. I have observed for far too long the unfortunate practice of District Court openings being filled by the county commissioners with individuals not on the basis of their legal and judicial qualifications, but purely and simply on their politics.
This practice is unfortunate and has a destructive impact on the public’s opinion of and confidence in our judiciary. Finally, however, the commissioners have chosen not to continue this injurious practice.
They have appointed a very qualified individual, Randy Brandt, to complete the term of Judge Richard White.
I’ve worked closely in a professional capacity with Judge Brandt for the past two years or so. He possesses the ethical fitness; the professional and academic ability; the character; the reputation in the legal community, and the community as a whole; the experience; and the judicial temperament to make an excellent District Court judge.
The appointment by the commissioners was in the public’s best interests, and the commissioners deserve to be acknowledged and congratulated.
