Spokane hardly tranquil
In response to the Nov. 16 letter by Mike Kraft regarding Spokane tranquility: First, your quoted lyrics are from the song “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell, not by Michael Jackson. Second, “stately tree-lined streets and manicured lawns”? Have you been to Spokane? There are some, but what I see a lot of is dilapidated houses with yards full of dirt, weeds, and broken-down cars and furniture. No area is immune from crime.
Which brings me to my third point. If helicopters are flying over your house with lights, there’s probably a suspect being sought. If it’s happening often, then you don’t live in a “tranquil neighborhood.” You don’t even have to know anything about law enforcement to know this. Just watch “Cops.”
Speaking of cops, where do you live that there is one “on every corner”? Have you not heard of the budget cuts that have nearly put our police force on a skeleton crew? We’re not even getting property crimes investigated anymore! Perhaps you could find a more peaceful environment where there is no police enforcement whatsoever. If you can find this Utopia, please write back to The Spokesman-Review and share this valuable information.
