Shogan showed courage

Thanks to Joe Shogan for speaking out publicly against David Condon’s campaign for using the term “ ‘taking her (Mayor Mary Verner) out’ before she gets a free shot at a great congresswoman in the 5th District.”

At the City Council meeting Shogan rightly and publicly challenged this form of speech, which clearly has connotations of assassination. Such language in politics (regardless of party) is destructive and dangerous. Only cowards use this kind of language and then hide behind the excuse it is only “metaphorical.”

Sorry that Joe Shogan’s colleagues on the council didn’t share his convictions and courage.
