Paper Switches Online Commenting

Starting Thursday, you will notice a change to our commenting system. We will be switching to using Facebook Comments on articles to create a more civil environment for conversation, and to give everyone an easier way to share with their friends. DFO: The comments section works at HucksOnline b/c I monitor it. Whenever I hear a newspaper complain about the nature of comments on their stories, I dismiss them as a media unwilling to pay for monitoring.

Question: What do you htink of the decision by the Statesman Journal of Salem, Ore., to move story comments to a Facebook wall that requires a Facebook account to participate?
