Fight obesity early

Our nation is failing in its fight against obesity across all demographics. Obesity is a widely underestimated problem, but it’s serious enough that it affects the general well-being of millions and often leads to disease and premature death. And the worst part is, the problem is increasing. This health tragedy reaches many of our homes, and because this issue is close to so many us, it is our duty to take action. We cannot expect this change to happen immediately, but we can immediately begin to reform our health and exercise practices.

As children, our habits form the archetype for the person we will be when we are adults, so an effective method for combating our obesity crisis is the education of our youth. The importance of teaching kids healthy eating and exercise practices cannot be emphasized enough. We must effectively teach children, at school and home, the dangers of obesity and the benefits of healthy lifestyle.

Obesity is a problem that gets harder to solve with age, and though we must not abandon adults, if we attack obesity at its root, we will watch our country’s increasing trouble with obesity diminish with every future generation.
