WSU starts prep for Stanford

COUGARS

It’s late, mainly because Washington State doesn’t start its Monday practice until 7:30 but also because I had a couple of interviews to do after it was done. But we’re done now and have a few notes. Read on.

• The rains came off and on during practice, but it didn’t seem all that off-putting to the players or the spectators (including me, which is shocking because I usually bitch more than anyone). There were a couple starters sitting and watching, including Isiah Barton, who had his left ankle in a boot, and Wade Jacobson, who looked and walked better than he did at anytime last week. And that was it. … Jeff Tuel took more snaps Monday than he did last week, threw the ball better than anytime since he’s come back – especially the deep ball – and had a motion that was much closer to his pre-injury one. It’s still up in the air, though, when he’ll be cleared. … Lot of talk around the perimeter of practice on the change in Tucson today, with most folks shocked that a coach would be replaced in the middle of the season. Even a couple players weighed in, saying off the record how awful it must be to have to deal with that as a player. … We took our first look at the Stanford game today.

• That’s it for tonight. It’s just too late. We’ll be back in the morning. Until then …
