Bent: Fee For BBQ Fund-raiser ‘Bogus’

Bent, long-time HucksOnline commenter and BBQer extraordinaire, sez the ha-huge fee charged by the Spokane health department to shut down a fund-raiser cooker at Riverside High is “bogus.” Quoth: “in Idaho you can cook a charity fundraiser without having to purchase a permit at all. And if you are vending or catering for profit you only pay $80 for a year-long permit. Unless you have a mobile kitchen, in Spokane county you have to pay $480 for a permit every time you cook an event — whether it charitable or not — and the fee is supposed to cover the cost of inspection. You can’t tell me it cost $480 to inspect one of these events. It takes all of 15 minutes to check the wash stations, hot-holding and cold-holding system… I know because I have been inspected several times” Bent is shown above BBQing w/wife Susan at 3rd annual St. Vincent de Paul’s Steak Fry this summer.
