Henry: It’s Only A Game Or Is It?

I attended the Vandal homecoming game against Louisiana Tech on Saturday. Toward the end of the game I was saddened to see that a majority of the student body had left their seats and headed home. As the scoring gap widened, things got ugly when some Vandal fans began heckling their own quarterback with boos and other unpalatable phrases. One fan in front of me quipped that Reader was the Gerald Ford of college quarterbacks, ascending to his position without any skill or ability, but only because he was next in line after his predecessor left. Ouch. The moral of the story is that a game is just that — a game. You win some and you lose some, but at the end of the day you post a score and move on to play the next team/ Henry Johnston , Moscow-Pullman Daily News. More here.

Question: What do you make of the crowd turning on QB Brian Reader and the Idaho Vandals toward the end of their 25-11 homecoming game defeat at the hands of Louisiana Tech?
