What’s With The ‘Do, Mayor Mary?

Monday night, Mayor Mary Verner presented her annual Statement of Conditions and Affairs to the Spokane City Council. She talked about everything from the city’s multi-million dollar budget deficit to new developments in the area.Verner started her speech talking about the devastating fire that ripped through the Milk Bottle and Ferguson’s Cafe a few weeks ago.”For me this event certainly is tragic,” Verner said, comparing their situation to the city’s own.”It’s a bit of a metaphor for what has happened at the city this year, we feel the heat of the ongoing economic downturn and we are working to keep our most critical services intact,” Verner said/ Kylee Cruz , KXLY.
