Worried about wrong scandals

Apparently Gerald Click (“What shared sacrifice”) only watches Fox News. What a scandal that 21 million low-income families with children received $36 billion in “earned income credit.” He avoids the fact that they are living below the poverty line and are unable to feed their children or afford medical care for their family. He overlooks the fact that oil companies make billions of dollars in profits and pay zero taxes and receive billions of dollars in subsidies, thanks to the Bush/Cheney administration.

Let Mr. Click complain about that inequity, which is even more scandalous and adds even more to the federal deficit.

Also, let’s get something else corrected that the ill-informed tea partyers are wrongly spewing. Government workers quite often work for wages below their civilian counterparts. And on those wages, they pay all the same taxes the civilians do. They are paying into Social Security as well as their retirement fund. Some buy stock through the Thrift Savings Plan. And through taxation, they pay to subsidize their health insurance.

Mr. Click may want to re-evaluate the facts concerning government workers. Hopefully, he will realize he doesn’t contribute to the retirement funds of government workers. Complain about benefits and retirement programs of Congress.
