Need gray rebellion

Most of us (retirees) live on a small pension and Social Security, a fixed income that doesn’t change. Avista and the city of Spokane seem to think we are an unlimited source of income with their yearly rate hikes. Their rate increases force us to make cuts in our other spending. Maybe they need to make cuts in their overpaid, bloated staffs.

How many people at City Hall are paid over $100,000 a year? How many engineers and managers are on the city staff? I hope I don’t get burglarized because the police no longer check on property crimes.

The banks offer near zero interest on our saving accounts so we can’t get any earned interest there. Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve say there is no inflation because they have removed things like food and fuel from the inflation equation. The Republicans say they want to reduce Social Security and Medicare, which will mean more cuts for us.

Pretty soon we won’t have anything left to cut except our pills in half, and switch from Hamburger Helper to Alpo. It’s time for the Gray Panthers to unite, stand up and throw the bums out.
