Current leaders all wet
As the wife of a retired sailor, I am offended that the spending of our City Council, current local administration and policymakers is compared to the disparaged drunken sailor. There is a big difference. The sailor usually spends his own money and doesn’t use the city’s debit or credit cards.
The rain we’ve had lately exhibits more sustainable development and renewable resources than the entire administration’s policies – and we didn’t have to pay increases in our water bill so the city employees could receive a pay raise. Ten trillion gallons in the aquifer continually replenishing itself should take care of us.
The citizens of Spokane and surrounding area have become first-class examples of endangered species by a rogue city government. Not only are we “near nature, near perfect,” we are near broke and the first responsibility of local government’s protection of the population is near gone.
The voters can make a difference in our upcoming election. Let’s try change and hope it works this time. Dave Condon for mayor and Mike Allen, Mike Fagan and Steve Salvatori on the City Council will be a good start. It’s time for some grown-ups. Vote!
