Pierce for school board

In many small districts, school board positions are volunteer positions – no pay. Because of federal and state budget cuts, the job requires making decisions no one is going to like.

Voters in the Mary Walker School District have the opportunity to return Bob Pierce to the board position he has filled with distinction. Bob’s expertise in business, finances and decision-making will continue to be a real asset as he works with others making the very difficult choices required.

In the last “off year” election, in 2009, only 35 percent of registered voters in our district decided who would represent them on the school board.

Regardless of the district you live in, please make the effort to vote (yes, I know it costs 44 cents for a stamp – probably a little less than the recent increase in your property taxes). A participatory democracy is not all that participative if only 35 percent choose to participate.

If you live in the Mary Walker School District, please carefully consider voting for Bob Pierce. If you live in a different district, learn who is running, and why, and participate by voting.
