Brower for collaboration

After attending a recent debate at Ferris High School, I am more convinced that Deana Brower has the experience, background and coalition-building skills to be a member of the Spokane Public Schools board of directors.

Brower has experience as an educator and volunteers her time continuously in support of education in Spokane. She has committed endless hours as committee chair with the Citizens for Public Schools, and helping to pass the most recent bond and levy for our schools.

Deana is a member of the Chase Youth Commission, on the board of the YWCA and contributes within her children’s’ schools, including serving as PTG president. My past experiences with Deana in these roles have always been positive and transparent.

Organizations need to improve; the best way to initiate change is by collaborating and creating a trusting environment among the groups involved. As Deana states in her mission statement, “All stakeholders in our community (parents, educators, business members, etc.) must participate collaboratively as the success of our district depends upon it.”

Let’s vote for someone that has a larger vision and works within the existing structure for change and improvement in the hard work of educating our children.
