Lawsuit is inconceivable
After reading the Sept. 1 article, “Idaho woman sues over ‘fetal pain’ law,” I feel compelled to respond.
First, it is inconceivable to me how the case against her was dismissed for lack of evidence. She admitted to inducing her own abortion and the “evidence,” namely her baby, was found in a box at her home. The autopsy determined the baby was at five to six months gestation.
Was the baby alive upon delivery? If so, how did it die? I have a family member who was convicted of a crime for shooting a dog on his own property while it was chasing deer. Not being an attorney, I can’t even pretend to understand how the legal system operates, but it breaks my heart to think our society values a trespassing dog more than an innocent human life.
And as for Ms. McCormack, I have some advice. You are obviously intelligent enough to pursue your cause in the courts. Presumably, then, you should be able to understand that if you are unmarried, have three children and are broke, you should avoid getting pregnant.
