Slow to learn
Nicolas Copernicus in 1525 wrote: “Nations are not ruined by one act of violence, but quite often, gradually, and almost imperceptibly, by the depreciation of their currency, through excessive quantity.”
Cicero wrote in 55 B.C.: “The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome (U.S.) become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
Why are we so ridiculously slow to learn?
