Town hall behavior boorish

I was appalled by the behavior of a small percentage of the attendees at Rep. McMorris Rodgers’ Aug. 31 town hall in Spokane. Their immature and rude behavior at the forum was boorish and obnoxious. Her union-inspired opponents repeatedly interrupted her attempts to explain the dire financial condition facing our nation. With loud booing, they shouted down any attempt to explain and educate and even booed questioners who expressed support for our congresswoman.

Mr. Stucke’s coverage of the town hall, although a bit weak, was right about one thing. The majority of the people in that 600 person audience cheered and applauded when Cathy called for the federal government to just get out of the way.

I hope that the same “pressure” the union’s loud minority put on McMorris Rodgers is being applied to Sen. Murray and Sen. Cantwell. Did anyone see them in Spokane in August? I certainly didn’t.

And I certainly wasn’t made aware of any kind of open forum or town hall they held. As for Rep. McMorris Rodgers, she’s not the one avoiding the people she represents. She was the only member of Congress in Washington state to hold a town hall during the month of August.
