What is a refuge?

After reading the article in the Sept. 15 paper, “The first Turnbull elk hunt a success,” I ask what is the definition of refuge? The dictionary states a refuge is a shelter or protection from danger or distress. You call the first hunt in Turnbull Refuge a success?

This is not a hunt; it is a slaughter. The animals think they are safe and you come in and slaughter them.

Mr. Ferguson said, “I would have thought there would be more enthusiasm to make use of a tag for the first hunt at the refuge.”

I pray you will rethink your idea of hunting in Turnbull and keep the refuge as a safe haven for the animals that live there.

Again, I ask Mr. Ferguson, what is the definition of refuge? I am looking forward to your answer.
