Bill Hall: Run! Panty Girdle’s Is Back

Most people have probably heard about the women’s movement that erupted years ago out in the open, but they might not know about the undercover part of that march toward freedom - or perhaps I should say the underwear part of it. I refer to a woman-shaping torture instrument known as a “panty girdle.” The women of my generation were constantly cursing that device. It amounted to a pair of industrial strength elasticized, form-fitting skivvies. They were deliberately worn too small because they were used to get everything together, to pull a woman into a firm, youthful and sexy but nearly strangled shape.
