COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN — At about 2:40 p.m. tomorrow, WSU will be exactly halfway through spring practice. But we go more than halfway with our links this morning. Read on for the whole thing.

We documented yesterday’s high-intensity practice with this story in the newspaper, as well as our usual post-practice blog post . Also, we recapped Ken Bone’s meeting with the media yesterday in this blog post , and wrote an end-of-season story that should run in the S-R in the coming days. The biggest news is that Brock Motum is expected back next season, though really, that was the expectation all along. … We also focus on Gonzaga in this baseball notebook , for those interested. … Bud Withers has a bit about Bone’s press conference.

Elsewhere around the Pac-12 … Arizona and Arizona State will each have a presence when the ceremonial first pitch(es) are thrown at the Diamondbacks game tonight. … An ASU lineman is keeping a list. … USC may have lost a tailback. The Trojans’ quarterbacks don’t mind the team bringing in another big recruit at that position. … The Neuheisel name lives on at UCLA. … The Bruins have their X-man back. … A Colorado safety is battling through injuries. … Utah lost yet another basketball player. … This Utes defensive lineman is already a Star. … Some notes from Stanford’s spring practice. … Sad story about the death of former Oregon State coach Joe Avezzano. … This OSU tight end feels like a freshman . He also is a freshman. … Some Oregon defenders are guarding against complacency.

As for our wildcard link … As the headline suggests, this is one of the more awkward moments in recent press conference history. The whole drama between Van Gundy and Howard is a little lame and tired, but the actual exchange with reporters is something else.

All for now.
