LTHM: Not A Legit Reason For Recall
LoveToHateMe: In this case, I think several council members and the mayor do need to go. Not because of their
official decisions, but simply because I think they have been there too long. I don’t care how good a person’s platform is, there needs to be some rotation at all levels of politics. Term limits for each elected position in order to prevent any power (no matter how little) from going to the politician’s head. In our situation there are no term limits, so the appropriate way to oust a politician you might believe has been in power too long is at the polling booth during the next regular election. A recall is not the way to go unless the politician has made some sort of grievous error. These people have not. I will not sign the recall petition. Question: If LoveToHateMe is right — and Mayor Sandi Bloem & the 3 council members need to go because they’ve been in office too long — how about Councilman Ron Edinger? And/or: Do you believe in term limits for local elected offices like mayor, City Council, and county commissioner?
Question: Should local elected officials like mayor, City Council, and county commissioner be term limited?
