Some links for your Sunday

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN — It’s Sunday, the sun is supposed to be shining, and the Cougars have the day off from football practice. Might head over to Moscow for a bite at the Breakfast Club to celebrate the occasion. But first, some links.

WSU practiced yesterday for the eighth time this spring, going through a 115-or-so-play scrimmage at Martin Stadium. Our story for today’s newspaper focused on the strong play of the defensive line, and as usual, we had a blog post after practice summarizing the day’s events. … Bud Withers was in Pullman last week — he became the third or fourth person recently to recommend that I dine at CD’s Smoke Pit in Moscow, which I did the other day, and I suggest you do the same — and wrote this story about defensive coordinator Mike Breske in today’s Seattle Times. … Vince linked a story about former Cougar Bennie Seltzer taking the head coaching job at Samford on Saturday, but I’ll pass along this column here anyway. … The WSU baseball team took two of three games from Seattle University this weekend, losing 5-4 on Saturday.

Elsewhere around the Pac-12 … Some nicknames for ASU’s proposed stadium renovation. … Oregon’s quarterbacks are competing every day, winning the day, ruing the day, etcetera. … Mike Riley likes what he’s seen out of Oregon State so far this spring. … USC is working on its tailback problem . … Great column from Bill Plaschke about Jim Mora’s colorful language . Sounds familiar. … A UCLA running back makes the switch to linebacker. Sounds familiar. The Bruins went through their first day in full pads . … Utah’s offense is progressing ahead of schedule . Sounds familiar. The Utes’ quarterbacks were put in harm’s way on Saturday. … Should Colorado go to a no-huddle ? … Zach Maynard doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Brendan Bigelow is working to make people think differently of his talents. … Stanford’s kicker seems to be responding to last season’s Fiesta Bowl failure just fine. There’s a battle defensive end down on the Farm.

As for our wildcard link … Happy Easter , everyone.

All for now. We’ll post some video of Bobby Ratliff a little later.
