DFO Interviews Fernan Council Prez

Mary Ann Tierney, council president for Fernan, has just dropped off a resolution supporting Mayor Sandi Bloem and the three targetted Coeur d’Alene City Council members. I’m going to ask her a few questions:

  • DFO: Was the resolution that you gave me approved unanimously?
  • Mary Ann: Yes. Sue Myers, Peter Job, Heidi Acuff, Mayor Richard Juvelin and myself all approved of the resolution.
  • DFO: Why did you take this step?
  • Mary Ann: We did so in appreciation of all the things Mayor Sandi Bloem and the City Council have done for the city of Coeur d’Alene, which we all benefit from. We’ve benefitted from the Kroc Center, the library, education corridor, Riverstone. Sandi has been an outstanding mayor.
  • DFO: Did you run into any opposition in getting approval for the resolution?
  • Mary Ann: Maybe my phone will be ringing today. But I’m going to play golf. Otherwise, I didn’t encounter any opposition to the resolution.

Whereas … the initiation of a recall appears to place the city’s Council in a distrubring and fractional governing body that would likely impact on the olong range vision of the city, affect the quality of life of its citizens, and hamper the future for new business development within and outside the city … Full resolution here. Question: Should surrounding towns also stand up for the city of Coeur d’Alene?
