Powder: UI Should Eliminate Football

PowderFarmer (RE: UI should return to the Big Sky ): If you really want to get down to it, given Title IX requirements, by ELIMINATING the football program the UI would be able to eliminate some female sports and save a boat load of money. Really, where is the interest in UI football? It isn’t there on campus given attendance and it isn’t there on the TV market. Forget going back to the Big Sky, dump football altogether and the corresponding womens’ sports and start running the athletic department at a little less red. If the UI keeps scholarship athletics sans a football team, it will still lose money, just not even close to what they are losing now.

Question: Has Powder Farmer hit on the right idea for University of Idaho? Eliminate Vandal football altogether & save money rather than continue to struggle at the top division or go back to the Big Sky?
