After: Proposed McEuen Field
I pulled this from my post yesterday to show you the dramatic difference between tired, old McEuen Field as it now exists — and the $14.2 million upgrade that will move parking to the north side of Front Avenue, as well as the American Legion Baseball diamond and the lower boat-trailer parking lot. Mayor Sandi Bloem and council members Deanna Goodlander, Woody McEvers and Mike Kennedy have all compromised a great deal from the original plan of $28 million to $42 million. But the so-called neutral side of the council — Dan Gookin, Steve Adams and, sadly, Ron Edinger — haven’t compromised at all. The minority side is still fighting for gray space and a hardball field that is used by a few dozen kids in the summer and will be upgraded considerable elsewhere.
