Baby orca born, photographed near Puget Sound

A baby orca apprently born on Aug. 6, 2012, swims with its mother at the south end of the Strait of Georgia. The baby is reported to be healthy and spry, newest member of the J Pod, which roams into Puget Sound. (Center for Whale Research)

WHALE WATCHING — An orca calf, born to the famous J Pod that roams into Puget Sound, was photographed Monday shortly after it was born to an 11-year-old mother.
