A week nearly gone for WSU
COUGARS
FROM PULLMAN — At about 5:45 p.m. today, Washington State will have a full week — seven days, that is — of football practices behind them. What better way to celebrate the occasion than with links?
…
Our story in today’s newspaper focuses on the play of JUCO transfer Justin Sagote, who looks to be a big part of the linebacker competition this season. We also blogged about yesterday’s practice , as usual. … WSU’s linebackers aren’t concerned with outside perceptions. … Also, a note passed along by the WSU sports information staff the other day that I forgot to include in yesterday’s story: more than 5,000 single-game tickets were sold by the WSU ticket office over the weekend. … And we have a basketball note for you, one we have also been meaning to pass along after tweeting about it — former operations assistant Tim Marrion is leaving the program to become an assistant coach at San Jose State.
Around the Pac-12 … An Arizona receiver is coming back from a lacerated kidney. … Arizona State’s Junior Onyeali would like the chance to speak with Dennis Erickson again. Which puts him at odds with most of Moscow. … This season is the last chance for UCLA’s seniors to make something of their careers. Then again, they were Pac-12 South champions(ish) last year. … USC wants Robert Woods to slow down , which would be fine with the rest of the Pac-12. … Taking a look at a couple of players on Washington’s revamped (they hope) defense. … Colorado needs to get something out of their tight end position this year. … Utah regained its best hope for a starting left end. … A notebook from California’s camp. … Oregon State’s defensive coordinator is trying to end his unit’s two-year slump. … Carson York, a local product, hopes to recover from knee surgery in time to help the Ducks this year. An Oregon cornerback is almost making a name for himself.
All for now.
