Audio: A Close RecallCDA Encounter
Just when you thought you’d heard the end of the failed 2012 Coeur d’Alene recall attempt, Huckleberries provides something new about the divisive campaign. As you may recall, recall organizer Mary Souza and an
anti-recaller (Jeffrey Block) had a close encounter in front of the Army-Navy story on Government Way on May 31. Block was trying to engage Souza in a conversation about the recall — and Mary decided it was a waste of time (because she’d already had a conversation with him about it earlier). A man who was listening to the conversation stepped in, grabbed Block’s recording device, returned it, and may have pushed him. The guy allegedly flipped Block off as he drove away. Mary said she didn’t know the individual — and that he wasn’t a volunteer for her RecallCDA group. Huckleberries asked for the 911 recording of Block’s call in early June. But was denied access to it until the investigation was over. It now is. I received that audio a few minutes ago and have posted it above. Sgt. Christie Wood tells Huckleberries that the Prosecutor’s Office declined to handle the case, stating it would be difficult to prove that Souza tried to interfere with the 911 call.
