BillB: Dishonorable To Work in Fast Food?
The appointment of Dominoes franchise owner and businessman, Jim Hightower, has generated discussion. BillB posts the following 11:05 am question:
Is it dishonorable to work in fast food? I was always taught that work, however inconsequential to some, is a good thing. I guess I don’t understand all the bashing of people who work for a franchise. I do not see what it has to do with Mr. Hightower and his lack of skills necessary to be on a school board. I would imagine he will come up for re-election at some point in the relatively near future? At some point we are all going to have to reach a point where we decide it is a wonderful thing for a kid to be able to program a computer. However, we will also have to realize that is probably a good idea if they can tie their own shoes or have some moderate idea on how to write. Get off the fast food workers, it makes you all sound like elist snobs.

I worked for minimum wage in restaurants and the service industry through most of high school and college, as have many folks. And then I moved on. But what about those adult, non-student folks that will not be “moving on” but rather, this is how they make their living? Do you think this career choice is worthwhile?
