No war on Christmas

There has been a lot of talk about a “War on Christmas” in the last couple of years. This year is no exception.

There is no war on Christmas. This was made up by Bill O’Reilly and the folks at Faux (Fox) News. They claim atheists want to kill Christmas and ruin it for everyone. That’s not so. The only thing atheists want is for religious displays on publicly funded property to be moved to private property.

You see, contrary to popular belief, the holiday isn’t just about Christians. Decorated trees and lights originated from pagan winter solstice celebrations prior to Christianity, and there are at least 10 other mythological gods with the same attributes associated with the biblical Jesus Christ that predate the Christian myth.

So, keep your trees, lights and decorations. Call them Christmas and not holiday. Just keep them on private property. I know I will. I enjoy my Christmas celebrations, without any religious connotations.
