KCres: Mom Tired Of Holiday Travel

KCres: My mother is getting ready to fly here for Christmas from the UK. The last time she tried to come out she couldn’t get to Heathrow because of the snow. Snow of any significant amount is rare in the London area and the airport simply wasn’t equipped to deal with 2” that they received. She ended up coming here in March instead. The time before she came for Christmas she got as far as Seattle to find Spokane airport closed following the 18” or so we got in 24 hours. Getting on a new flight to Spokane proved impossible and we ended up flying her into Pullman a few days later and driving down there to pick her up. She emailed yesterday to say that she found winter travel way too stressful and this would be the last time she would come here at this time of year. At least it will also be the last time I need to do the traditional British turkey Christmas dinner. One turkey a year is enough. (AP file photo for illustrative purposes)
