Social Security hike is puny
Today my wife and I received our notices from the Social Security Administration, advising us that our Social Security benefits will increase 1.7 percent in 2013. Included in each notice was the amount of our new monthly benefits.
After subtracting the Medicare medical insurance deduction of $104.90 per person, our net monthly benefits increased by a whopping 10 cents each over our 2012 benefit payments. Wow! Whatever shall we do with that extra 10 cents a month?
Thanks a lot Congress. We really appreciate it. I’m sure it will go a long way in helping maintain our standard of living.
