Continue the legacy
During tough economic times, supporting school levies is a key factor in promising economic growth in the region. Quality schools attract businesses and families who want to live in a city that has been listed in the top 100 livable cities.
When my husband and I were contemplating a move away from the West Side, it was the strength of the Spokane-area schools that was a major factor in our decision.
This replacement levy (similar to the one expiring) continues the wonderful educational experience the community expects and that my children have had, including sports programs and events, music and arts programs, counselor-supported school-to-work initiatives, teachers for rich academic offerings such as advanced placement classes, and to keep reasonable class sizes. These programs and services will no longer be available with a devastating cut of one-quarter of school employees (see The Spokesman-Review front page article Jan. 9).
My three children received an excellent education in Spokane, and I believe that the generations to come deserve the same. I strongly urge you to vote yes for kids during this upcoming levy election as we continue Spokane’s legacy of supporting school levies since the early 1970s.
