Foes have a choice

Being gay is no more a choice than your dominant hand is a choice. Just when did you decide to be right-handed? Being left-handed was once considered evil. (The word “sinister” comes from the Latin “sinistra,” which also means left.) So you are saying that, if I am left-handed, I could just turn my back on those evil ways and simply start using my right hand?

However, your religion is your choice. You are not born Catholic, though you may have been born into a Catholic family. As you grow, live and learn, you may change your religious affiliation. That is your choice!

Allowing gay marriage to be state-sanctioned doesn’t mean you have to go out and marry a gay person. It doesn’t mean that your church has to allow gay marriage in the congregation, or even allow a gay marriage to be performed in the church.

As our governor so eloquently said, “Religions can discriminate, the state cannot.”

If you do not like gay marriage, don’t marry a gay person.
