Levy leads to entitlement

If our schools cannot operate on a budget, how can they teach this life skill to students?

Perhaps it is because they don’t believe in budgets. They teach entitlement rather than earning what you receive. The present levy is being sold on jobs. Previous levies were sold on “for the kids.” Who really benefits? Our schools feel entitled to more money. They have an “I want” list. We all have wants and wishes.

Our need is for better results and more accountability for what they already receive. Just throwing money at the problem or blaming the parents is not the answer. Providing jobs for all the people listed on The Spokesman-Review’s Jan. 9 front page is wonderful. However, the job of schools is not to provide jobs, great benefits and wonderful careers.

The job of schools is to educate our children.
