Plowing misunderstood
Re: Keith LaMotte’s Jan. 15 letter, “Plowing was unnecessary.” Street and highway maintenance crew managers adjust work schedules so that weekends and holidays are covered without workers putting in excessive overtime. Occasionally, there are exceptions during heavy snowstorms. There may be no snow in front of your home but 3 or 4 inches just a mile or so away. It’s the geography of our area.
It makes no sense for a plow truck to compact snow on the road while it is traveling over the route to be maintained. Thus, the truck was plowing what seemed to be an insignificant amount of snow. We can be thankful for a mild winter during these difficult economic times.
