Gookin: Disallow Anonymous Blogging
In the comment section under the Coeur d’Alene Press Sunday editorial
(“Clarify rules for recall”
), Councilman
Dan Gookin takes issue with a response from anonymous commenter Adamsfly. Gookin had commented that Idaho requires too many signatures to force a recall election. Which prompted Adamsfly to say: “So Dan, are you going to feel the same way when we go after you? I doubt it.” Gookin responds: “So anonymous blogging human Adamsfly agrees with the editorial in one post, and then turns around and threatens a public official with a recall for flimsy reasons in another post. Typical. Mr. Patrick, the best way The Press can help heal the community is to disallow anonymous blogging and the cowardly mud-slinging it promotes.”
Question: How can you continue quality dialogue online without sacrificing anonymity?
