PHD Lifts Advisory For Fernan Lake
Dick Martindale of the Panhandle Health District sends this news release: “A health advisory was issued on July 11th for Fernan Lake by the Panhandle Health District and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality due to the presence of high concentrations of blue-green algae that can produce toxins harmful to humans and animals. Officials from Idaho Department of Environmental Quality have been monitoring the lake since the advisory was issued and they now confirm the concentration of the blue-green algae in Fernan Lake is no longer a concern for the presence of harmful toxins produced by the algae. Therefore the health advisory has been lifted, and Fernan Lake is safe again for fishing, swimming, and domestic water supply using the appropriate water treatment technology.”
