Hedberg: Film Memories Outlive Film

Those movie makers who are filming “Admissions” at Washington State University are doing way more for the people of this area than just increasing hotel and restaurant revenues. They are making something that will last far longer than the two hours it will eventually take to view that show at a theater. They are making memories in some people’s lives that will imprint them more deeply than if they had a personal encounter with the Virgin Mary. Say what you will about the goofy priorities of the American people. We might underpay teachers and lavish salaries on baseball players. We might skimp on health care benefits while making sure that there’s a big-screen TV in every home. We could continue shipping jobs overseas until there are no more jobs here. Or hardly any. But one thing we will hold onto as long as liberty reigns from sea to shining sea and that’s the entertainment industry. Those car manufacturers and widget makers will just have to make do with jobs selling popcorn at the movie theaters. I know this is true because I’ve known people who had slight brushes with a movie-in-progress and never forgot it the rest of their lives/ Kathy Hedberg , Lewiston Tribune. More here.

Question: Have you ever participated in a movie? Or had a close encounter with a movie in progress?
