Sara Meyer: We Wanted To File Last Week

(re:
Stop the Recall group files complaint
): The complaint was turned over to the City Clerk because that’s how the complaint process is started. The City Clerk then turns it over to the City legal department and
they look the claim over to see if it has merit. If they feel that it does, then it is turned over to the County Prosecutor, who has the authority to launch an investigation. We are just following procedure. The fact that we turned the complaint in now has nothing to do with the claim that RecallCdA has the signatures. They have a right to claim whatever they want; all we care about are the verified/certified signatures. We’ve been working on this for quite awhile and given that the legal process is never speedy, we wanted to get this in as soon as we had it ready. We wanted to file it last week but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
More below.
Thoughts?
We don’t and have never disputed the fact that RecallCdA has the legal right to the recall process; all we are asking is that they conduct the recall signature gathering honestly and factually. We and others do not feel that RecallCdA has been completely factual with the information they have been using to obtain signatures, which is why we filed the complaint. The information we provided will be examined and hopefully investigated.
