In a steady drizzle, first-grader Jack Boecher, left, digs a hole for a his pumpkin seedling while Kara Carleton, right, gives instructions at the Community Roots farm in Dalton Gardens Tuesday. Dalton Elementary first-graders each planted a pumpkin at the farm, an outreach of the Kootenai Environmental Alliance, which provides healthy food to the farm’s subscribers.
