Blast Hurts 2 At St. Maries Grad Party

A local graduation party ended in what could have been a tragedy Saturday when a cannon exploded injuring two people. The Darden family and friends gathered for Cody Darden’s graduation party Saturday afternoon six miles up the St. Joe River Road. While re-loading a cannon, gunpowder ignited and blew into the faces of Ron Darden and Hunter Megee. Mr. Darden is expected to return home from a Seattle hospital Saturday. “The guys were shooting a cannon and when they reloaded the barrel the black powder ignited and exploded,” Renee Megee, Mr. Darden’s sister, said. “The cannon didn’t malfunction.
