Legal but still immoral
Michael Nelson’s opinion (“Hands off civil liberties” – June 13) notwithstanding, in a humane civil society there does not exist a private right to choose to destroy the life of an unborn infant, with the sole exception of those rare instances when such life termination is deemed necessary, on sound and credible medical advice, in order that the life of a pregnant woman be preserved.
Sadly, abortion may be legalized, but that does not abrogate its stark immorality nor confer upon it the status of a right. It only serves to debase the society that condones or tolerates such abomination.
