Weekend Wild Card — 6.16-17.12
Coeur d’Alene Held Hostage, Day 73: That light you see at the end of the tunnel is just that — the light at the end of the tunnel. The attempted Recall of competent Mayor Sandi Bloem & the Better Half of the City Council is going down in flames, with 98 percent of the signatures counted. A disqualification rate of 24 percent means the mayor & council members Deanna Goodlander, Woody McEvers and Mike Kennedy have survived this attack on their character, judgment and long service to Coeur d’Alene. County Clerk Cliff Hayes, an erstwhile favorite of the Recallers, & his Election Department will finish the count Monday. City Clerk Susan Weathers will declare the recall unsuccessful at 5 p.m. Tuesday. So, let’s enjoy today, knowing that my “held hostage” lead-in will go away Wednesday morning. Kosh & Motorboat are playing at City Park from 1 to 4 p.m. & the wall of faces will be unveiled at Fort Sherman Square at 2 p.m. We’re about to get our city back. Now to replay the Weekend Wild Card …
