Officer Shot In North Spokane

Spokane police are searching for a suspect in the shooting of a police officer this afternoon in north Spokane. Eyewitnesses said they saw two injured people being taken away by ambulance. In a possibly related development, police received a report a short time later of a carjacking nearby. The reports indicate an officer was shot and is down along the Newport Highway about a half mile north of the Y, near the intersection of North Elm Street. The reported carjacking was at 9901 North Andrew St. Paramedics treated the officer at the scene and are rushing the officer to the hospital/ SR . More here.
