House backs amendment to texting ban to remove law-enforcement exemption
The House has endorsed amendments to SB 1274, the bill to outlaw texting while driving, to remove an exemption in the bill for law-enforcement or emergency vehicles. “There was no reason to have that exemption at all,” said Rep. Rich Wills, R-Glenns Ferry, a retired state trooper. The amended bill now will return to the House calendar so it can come up for debate and a vote as amended; if it passes, the Senate still would need to endorse the amended bill before it could head to the governor.
