Richert: Filings By The Number

On his Idaho Statesman blog, Opinion Editor Kevin Richert provides a terrific by-the-numbers breakdown on legislative files and non-filings at this point in time. Posts Kevin: “By 5 p.m., or shortly thereafter, we’ll know exactly who’s filing for what seats in the Idaho Legislature. So some of this is subject to last-minute change. But this is my best attempt to try to quantify things as we head toward the deadline.” Example for No. 9 & No. 98:

• #9: The number of Senate incumbents who will not seek re-election. (Diane Bilyeu, D-Pocatello; Joyce Broadsword, R-Sagle; Denton Darrington, R-Declo; Jim Hammond, R-Coeur d’Alene; Nicole LeFavour, D-Boise; Edgar Malepeai, D-Pocatello; John McGee, R-Caldwell, who resigned last month; Shirley McKague, R-Meridian; Melinda Smyser, R-Parma.)
• #98: Combined years of service for these nine senators.
