Lake urges introduction of cig tax hike bill; says crowd shows how much interest there is

House Rev & Tax Chairman Dennis Lake, R-Blackfoot, urged his committee to print the bill on the cigarette tax increase and allow a full hearing. “You can tell by the number of people that are here how much interest there is,” he said. Lake said, “Why in the world should all the people in the state of Idaho be paying for the habit of a small group? … Why shouldn’t the people using tobacco be paying that?” He said, “Call it social engineering if you want - I call it just common sense.”
