WAC’s Demise Leaves UI Stranded

For 31 seasons, the Idaho Vandals football team called the Big Sky home. The results were mostly positive, especially near the end, when the Vandals claimed five titles and four runner-ups in an 11-year span before making the jump to the Football Bowl Subdivision. Now, nearly 20 years and very little football success later, the Vandals have no choice but to consider a return to the Big Sky and regional rivalries. Conference realignment is back — with nearly every other WAC member prepared to abandon Idaho in the next few weeks — and it will leave winners and losers. The WAC and Idaho are in the latter category.
