Erickson: Anti-LCDC Misinformation

Keith Erickson
(who now handles public relations for LCDC reports on anti-LCDC meeting last night): “As expected, it was a pep rally comprised completely of anti-progress … I mean anti-LCDC folks. Lots of
misinformation. They’re still calling the McEuen proposal a nearly $40M project. They also denounced plans for a 3-story mixed-use development in mid-town, although that proposal has been withdrawn by the Boise-based Housing Company due to concerns from mid-town people and landlords of other rentals in the city who would be negatively impacted by the competition. My attempt to set the record straight on the mid-town project was met with dirty looks and grumbles. Lots of name calling. The naysayers blamed higher taxes in Kootenai County on urban renewal and called the concept of urban renewal “a recipe for corruption.” Sims made every attempt to make the meeting not about the LCDC as much as a foundation to recall Mayor Bloem and her progressive council members. Decent turnout. I’d estimate about 100, as previously stated here, most were in the 60-and-above age range.
